2027: APC set to end lingering crisis in Oyo
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, has been scheduled to meet with the aggrieved governorship aspirants and members in Oyo State today.
The meeting, as reliably informed, is aimed at reconciling the members of the various factions of the party, including the governorship aspirants, ahead of the conduct of the 2027 general elections.
Our correspondents report that some governorship aspirants and their teeming followers have expressed their dissatisfaction with the conduct of the governorship primary that produced Senator Sharafadeen Ali as the candidate of the party.
A faction of the party led by the former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr Rauf Olaniyan, had at different fora insisted that the party is yet to have a governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Oyo State.
They insisted that inasmuch as they are not opposing the presentation of a consensus candidate, it should be done in a credible way.
Also, in order to provide a lasting solution to the lingering crisis, President Bola Tinubu has met with the former Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin, and other leadership of the party, including Senator Ayo Adeseun, Ambassador Florence Ajimobi, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle and a host of others.
Even though some of them have agreed to sheathe their swords, the national leadership of the party will be meeting with them in Ibadan today in order to put the party in good stead for 2027.
The meeting is expected to have in attendance Senator Sharafadeen Ali, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Engr Rauf Olaniyan, Barrister Akeem Agbaje, Engr Hakeem Alao, Chief Asanike, Senator Fatai Ibikunle, the state chairman of the party, Chief Moses Alake, and a host of others.
In a related development, the National Chairman, Goshwe, will pay a courtesy visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, at Olubadan Palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan, the same day.
