The Coalition of Southern Kaduna Youth Groups has commended President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Uba Sani, and Senator Sunday Marshall Katung for their roles in establishing the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, and the Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan, in the state.

At a press conference held in Kaduna on Friday, the coalition’s coordinator, Luke Duniya, praised the federal government’s efforts, describing the establishment of the two institutions as a dream come true for the people of Southern Kaduna.

Duniya noted that the youths would mobilise votes for President Tinubu, Sani, and Katung in the 2027 polls as a show of appreciation.

“To whom much is given, much is expected, and with the establishment of these two institutions – the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, and the Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan, we will mobilise for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and Senator Sunday Marshall Katung ahead of the 2027 polls,” Duniya said.

Establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences and the Federal Medical Centre is expected to bring positive changes to the region, providing quality education, employment opportunities, and improved healthcare services.

Tinubu had approved the establishment of the university in Southern Kaduna, with Vice President Shettima disclosing that there were ongoing discussions to establish a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

The Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, is expected to commence operations soon, with the Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, directing that the university be captured in the 2025 budget for a September takeoff.

Speaking further, Duniya commended Katung for his exceptional leadership, foresight, and dedication to the development of Southern Kaduna.

“We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Uba Sani, and Senator Sunday Marshall Katung for their tireless efforts in making this dream a reality,” Duniya said

“Our Senator has been diligent in his duties since taking office, particularly in making significant strides in Education, Healthcare, Economic Empowerment, and Agriculture. Thanks to all his interventions and quality leadership, our region has started seeing positive growth and development,” Duniya said.

The coalition also praised Vice President Shettima for his commitment to the development of Southern Kaduna, citing his statement that “President Bola Tinubu has the people of Kaduna and the people of Southern Kaduna at heart.”

The coalition concluded by passing a vote of confidence on Katung, acknowledging his strong leadership qualities and commitment to the region’s development.

“We believe that with our support, the Senator will do more for our region. We will not forget him in a hurry. May the mighty hand of God continue to lead our Distinguished Senator, Sunday Katung, and all our leaders who are in positions of authority, to always see our region as their number one priority, irrespective of the political parties to which they belong,” Duniya added.
