Remi Tinubu partners SMEDAN to empower constituents

The senator representing the Lagos Central Senatorial District, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has set machinery in motion to empower over 200 members of her constituents with grants to start up business.
She gave this hint yesterday during the Empowerment Initiative organised by the Lagos Central Senatorial District Office held in conjunction with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN), at the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Auditorium, Lagos.
Justifying the need for the empowerment programme which is in partnership with other third parties including SMEDAN, Microvis MFB, the lawmaker recalled that a lot of her outreach programmes focus on putting knowledge and resources directly in the hands of the people, revealed that the current initiative would be different in scope and planning as it is aimed helping her constituent members to better their future.
“Our beneficiaries have been drawn from women and youth in the district who have been ascertained to have been trained in various skills-one hundred women and one hundred youths. These are two vital groups of society.
“By empowering the women, you would be ensuring that families are taken care of. By empowering the youths, we will be doing our part to reduce youth restiveness while helping them to secure their future and by extension, the future of our nation,” she stressed.
The lawmaker, who recalled that she sponsored a motion on the need for improved access to healthcare and increased funding to primary healthcare services across the country, said that as part of her contributions to her constituents, her office has forged a synergy of cooperation with the Lagos State Ministry of Health to provide one year health insurance to each of the beneficiaries of the current initiative. “With this, they can walk into any of the government owned health institutions across the state and receive medical attention, for ailments within the scope of the insurance scheme.
