A Governorship aspirant in Benue state, Dr. Jeffrey Kuraun has made a plea to strengthen our Primary Healthcare System.
In a press statement made available to Gatmash News, Dr. kuraun called for adequate supply of safe water and basic sanitation, promotion of food supply and proper nutrition, maternal and child healthcare, including family planning as well as immunization against the major infectious diseases.
“We must make deliberate efforts to strengthen our Primary Healthcare System. The aim is to make it Available, Accessible, Acceptable, Adequate and Affordable using the key elements of primary healthcare namely: adequate supply of safe water and basic sanitation, promotion of food supply and proper nutrition, maternal and child healthcare, including family planning as well as immunization against the major infectious diseases” he said.
Dr. Kuraun hope to achieve this by using appropriate technology and intersectoral collaboration with the private sector, voluntary and non-profit groups. “This will enhance the performance of our healthcare system by improving population health, accessibility and achieve cost containment or even lower healthcare expenditure” he said.
