Osinbajo checks into Lagos hotel, blocks Governor, minister from seeing him

A serving minister and governor of one of the South West states were blocked from seeing Vice President Yemi Osinbajo over the weekend at Duchess Hospital in Lagos.

The senior minister and the governor separately went to the GRA Ikeja-bases hospital where the Vice President had a successful surgery on a goodwill and get-well visit but were blocked by Osinbajo’s security operatives and family members from seeing him.

While our correspondent didn’t know why the governor was not allowed to see Osinbajo, it is said that the Vice President is not happy with the minister whom he expected to deliver his state for him at the last All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention.

President Muhammadu Buhari and other members of the Federal Executive Council where Osinbajo is the Vice Chairman had variously extended goodwill messages to the number two citizen when the news of his hospitalisation broke couple of days ago.

Contrary to the impression given by Vice President that all is well with his health after his recent successful surgery, WesternPost can reveal that he will still be attended to by his doctors and other medical professionals for more days to come but outside the hospital.

Our correspondent reliably gathered that the Vice President who does not want to remain in the hospital to continue his post-surgery recovery had checked into a hotel (name withheld) in Lagos where he is likely to spend another week with his doctors and other care givers though the impression given by his publicist is that he is set to be discharged to go home.

Prof. Osinbajo underwent a surgical operation on Saturday, July 16, at the Duchess International Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to sources, the vice president underwent a surgery around his hips following injury he sustained during his squash game training session at his Aso Rock residence.

In a statement given the impression that all is well with the Vice President, his Media Office had quoted Osinbajo as saying: “My deep gratitude to everyone for your get-well wishes and prayers following my surgery.

“And special appreciation to the amazing team of surgeons, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and the management of the Duchess International Hospital, Lagos, for providing such excellent care.

“God bless you all.”
