Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in company of Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri on Thursday, met with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in London.
Atiku and Wike both contested the PDP presidential primary election in May where the former Vice President won. Atiku went on to pick Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate, a decision that didn’t go down well with Wike and his supporters among the PDP governors.
Wike has been intransigent for losing the primary election despite his promise to support whoever win. He has used every opportunity in the last two months to hit at Atiku and the leadership of the party and has openly been hobnobbing with some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
It was reported he held a meeting in France on Monday with APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
WesternPost had also exclusively reported that Oyo State Governor who is part of Wike’s team in London rejected the offer to be the Director-General of the Atiku Campaign.
It is expected that Atiku will plead with Wike to support him to win the next election.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo also met Wike earlier today in London with Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi. The details of these meetings were not made public but they are apparently connected with the coming general elections.
Atiku met Wike alongside his allies which included Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State; Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State among others.
