Kenneth Uzoigwe, a former Special Assistant on political matters (South) to the immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has said that Igbo living in Surulere as well as other non-indigenes are all in support of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Fuad Laguda, towards the on-coming bye-election, where the winner will replace Gbajabiamila, who resigned from the 10th assembly to take appointment as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.

Uzoigwe, a grass-roots politician and a successful businessman, made the revelation in a forum in the federal capital city, Abuja, recently.

He said the massive support and endorsement of the former party chairman in Surulere, Laguda, by all and sundry was borne out of qualities that have been witnessed in him, which according to him include his consistency, competence, and loyalty, which he has displayed towards the party even at critical times. Uzoigwe added that the detribalized and God-fearing nature of the APC candidate is also part of reasons everyone in Surulere has decided to back him to replace Gbajabiamila in the Green Chambers.

“Although the shoe of Honorable Femi Gbajabiamilais is big, with the qualities possessed by Honorable Fuad Laguda and, most importantly, the support of everyone, the Igbo and other non-indigenes inclusive he enjoys, we are confident the shoe would be smart on him”, Uzoigwe declared.

Continuing, Chief Kenneth Uzoigwe said, “Anyone who claims to be a follower of Gbaja will not go contrary to the decision of Gbajabiamila-led leadership in Surulere. Anyone who truly believes in the political ideology of Gbaja will know that before Hon. Fuad Laguda was endorsed by the entire leadership of the APC in Surulere, from the ward to the state exco, a lot of deliberation must have been invested, so anyone parading himself as an Igbo within the fold of the APC in Surulere must respect and support Hon. Fuad Laguda.

Rounding up his address, Chief Kenneth recalled the Chief of Staff to the president, Gbajabiamila, who has presented Laguda to his principal for his endorsement. He said he believes the endorsement of President Tinubu is a sign God has completed the project.

He, however, called on APC supporters in Surulere not to relent in preaching the gospel of Laguda until victory is achieved. In the same vein, he enjoined Igbo and other non-indigenes in Surulere to rally support for Hon. Laguda so that he could represent Surulere 1 federal constituency at the House of Representatives, and build on the legacy and good works of Hon. Gbajabiamila.
