A two-time governorship candidate in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke (SAN) has declared he would become the next governor of the Sunshine State.

He made the declaration at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Akure where he announced his interest in the 2024 governorship race in the state.

Chief Oke said he has what it takes to become the state’s next governor, having contested as a candidate in two previous governorship contests and an aspirant in the last gubernatorial election.

He, however, warned the party not to favour any aspirant during the APC governorship primary scheduled for April 25 but to provide a level playing field for all the contestants.

Oke stated that he is not asking for any particular favours from the party’s leadership, only that they ensure a free and fair primary for all candidates vying for the party’s single ticket.

“I don’t want to be imposed on the party. I want a free and fair primary to select candidates for the party. If given the ticket, I will ensure the death of opposition parties,” he said.

Chief Oke stated that choosing a candidate via a legitimate party primary would facilitate reconciliation following the election of the victor.

Inaugurating the members of his campaign organisation, the APC aspirant appointed a former governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Alli Olanusi as the Director General of the Olusola Oke Campaign Organisation.
He charged members of his campaign team to work hard to ensure his emergence as the governorship candidate of the APC, adding that his desire to lead Ondo State is born out of a genuine urge to better the lot of the people.

“May I note that my quest to lead the state is always propelled by my sincere love for the state and concern for its development. God has blessed me enough. So, my ambition to be governor is solely about contributing significantly to the development of our dear state and finding an enviable place in history.

“We will develop Ondo. We want a new Ondo. We will create employment, reduce poverty and develop our infrastructure,” he assured.
