The Ekiti State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
They also endorsed the governor for a second term in office.
The state working committee and party officials from the 16 local government areas passed the resolution at a meeting held at the party secretariat in Ado Ekiti on Thursday. The meeting, according to the organisers was to discuss the governor’s performance in office.
Governor Oyebanji was also in attendance.
Speaking at the event, the party’s Acting State Chairman, Mr Sola Eleshin stated that due to the governor’s exceptional performance in all areas, all state executives have decided that he should serve as governor beyond 2026.
Mr Eleshin thanked the governor for his well-thought-out policies and initiatives, which he claimed have resulted into socioeconomic progress and improved living conditions for the populace.
The acting APC state chairman urged party members to be prepared and ensure the party succeeds in all upcoming local, state, and national elections.
In an interview with reporters after the meeting, Governor Oyebanji expressed gratitude to the state working committee and the party leadership for their assistance in making sure his administration succeeds.
The governor explained that he was at the party secretariat to report on his stewardship to the party that granted him the platform to run. He cited the necessity of striking a balance between politics and governance by being answerable to both party members and non-members.
Governor Oyebanji assured that such meetings with party leaders would become more regular. He thanked party members for their support and urged them to remain steadfast as his administration continues to fulfill its electoral promises to Ekiti people.
Dignitaries present at the meeting include the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, Speaker, Ekiti House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, Special Adviser on Political and Inter-party Matters, Chief Jide Awe, State Secretary of the party, Mr Sola Arogundade and others.
