PDP threatens to sanction Wike over November convention
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned that it will not hesitate to sanction any member acting against its constitution, in reaction to comments made by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, over the party’s planned November national convention.
Wike, in a television interview on Tuesday, said he was unaware of any elective convention, insisting that he and his allies would resist any attempt at “injustice.”
He questioned why no official NEC notice had been served to him, warning that he would challenge the process if necessary.
Responding, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, dismissed Wike’s claims, saying the NEC was duly convened, notices were sent, and INEC was formally informed.
Ologunagba confirmed that the convention will hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16, 2025, stressing that preparations were on course.
He warned that disloyalty would not be tolerated, adding: “A party is voluntary – there is free entry and exit. But anyone who remains must abide by the rules.”
