The Cathedral Church of Christ, Ilaro, will this weekend play host to the 53rd Anniversary of the prestigious Egbe Itesiwaju Society, one of the foremost and most enduring societies in the Diocese. The celebrations, scheduled for Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October, 2025, will feature a blend of spiritual thanksgiving, social fellowship, and the recognition of exemplary leadership within the church and community.

At the helm of this year’s celebration is the Society’s President, Otunba Dr. S.A.J. Ibikunle, Baba Ijo of the Anglican Diocese, Yewa Awori leader, and a foremost figure in Ogun State. Under his stewardship, the Society has continued to thrive, serving as a unifying platform for members and a support pillar to the Cathedral.

The highlight of this year’s anniversary is the Award of Honour Ceremony, where distinguished elders of the Society will be decorated for their steadfastness and contributions over the years.

Those to be decorated include Otunba Dr. S.A.J. Ibikunle, Baba Ijo of the Anglican Diocese; Dr. Segun Feyisitan; Prof. Adewale Laditan; Ven. Dr. Kunle Obadina; and the Dean of the Cathedral Church of Christ, Ilaro. They will each receive a gold plaque and medal of honour during the service.

The celebrations kick off on Saturday, October 4th, with the President’s Nite, a light social gathering of members and families at the President’s residence on Alagba Street, Ilaro. On Sunday, October 5th, the Anniversary Thanksgiving Service will hold at the Cathedral, where the honourees will be decorated. The day will conclude with a family luncheon and reception at the President’s residence.

Meanwhile, felicitations have begun to pour in from members and well-wishers across Nigeria and the diaspora. Among those who have sent warm greetings are Chief Tunde Soyemi, Chairman/CEO of Whiterose Group; Prince Olugbega Adewale in Canada; Prince Afolabi Dada; and Femi Oniyide.

In a special goodwill message, Senator Olamilekan Adeola Solomon (YAYI), the Aremo of Yewaland and a proud member of Egbe Itesiwaju Society, extended his hearty congratulations to the President, the awardees, and the entire membership of the Society, commending their unity and service to God.
