The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) has named the current Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, its Man of the Year.

Since its introduction in 2016, TAMPAN’s Man of the Year recognition has been conferred on only three distinguished Nigerians: Dr Tope Agbeyo; His Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, former Governor of Ogun State; and His Excellency, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State.

The Global President of the association, Dr Bolaji Amusan, disclosed this during a summit titled “The Right Man in Governance – Advancing Mr President’s Renewed Hope Agenda”, held on Tuesday in Lagos.

Reflecting the organisation’s conviction that leadership matters, and that when the right individuals are entrusted with responsibility, institutions are strengthened, Amusan said Tunji-Ojo has brought clarity, innovation and renewed purpose to the ministry within the national framework.

He said significant reforms have been initiated and implemented with speed, efficiency and transparency, adding that through technology-driven solutions, strategic restructuring and firm oversight, the minister’s leadership has improved identity management systems, enhanced immigration and passport service delivery, and restored public confidence in processes that affect millions of Nigerians at home and abroad.

He noted that the recipient has demonstrated uncommon courage in leadership by embracing accountability, insisting on standards and placing national interest above convenience.

The president added that Tunji-Ojo’s performance clearly aligns with Mr President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, translating vision into measurable impact and sustainable outcomes.

“Honourable members of government, respected elders, captains of industry, leaders of thought, members of the press, and my esteemed colleagues in the creative sector,

“On behalf of the global leadership of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), I warmly welcome you to the TAMPAN Professional Summit and Empowerment. We are deeply honoured by your presence at this important gathering.

“Today’s summit is a platform for reflection, engagement and empowerment. It reinforces TAMPAN’s belief that the creative industry is not only an economic contributor but also a powerful instrument for social reorientation, value projection and national unity. Our industry remains a strategic partner in governance, nation-building and national development.

“The theme of this summit, ‘The Right Man in Governance – Advancing Mr President’s Renewed Hope Agenda’, is both timely and deliberate. It reflects our conviction that leadership matters and that when the right individuals are entrusted with responsibility, institutions are strengthened and public confidence is restored.

“We are particularly honoured by the presence of Honourable Dr Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Honourable Minister of Interior of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Since assuming office, he has brought clarity, innovation and renewed purpose to one of the most sensitive ministries in our national framework.

“Under his stewardship, significant reforms have been initiated and implemented with speed, efficiency and transparency. Through technology-driven solutions, strategic restructuring and firm oversight, his leadership has improved identity management systems, enhanced immigration and passport service delivery, and restored public confidence in processes that affect millions of Nigerians at home and abroad.

“Beyond systems and processes, Honourable Dr Tunji-Ojo has demonstrated uncommon courage in leadership by embracing accountability, insisting on standards and placing national interest above convenience. His performance clearly aligns with Mr President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, translating vision into measurable impact and sustainable outcomes,” he said.
