Saraki free to rejoin our party — he’s a founding member, Ex-envoy to Kwara APC
Femi Abodunrin, a former ambassador to Cameroon and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says Bukola Saraki, former senate president, is free to return to the ruling party.
There have been speculations that Saraki, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is associating with members of the APC and considering rejoining the ruling party.
The APC in Kwara state had accused the former senate president of engaging in double politics — presenting himself as an opposition figure at home while allegedly courting favours from the ruling party in Abuja.
Speaking with journalists on Saturday in Offa, Kwara state, Abodunrin said Saraki is one of the founding members of the APC and faces no barrier at either the national or state level should he decide to rejoin the party.
“Nobody can stop him from rejoining the party,” he said.
“Saraki is a founding member of the APC. We all witnessed how he was brutally chased out of the party, despite his sacrifices and investments.
“If people are now insinuating that he is on his way back to his roots, to the house he helped to build, then he should hurry and make it quick. Nobody can stop him from rejoining the party.”
Abodunrin added that several influential figures currently occupying key positions in the APC were introduced to the party through Saraki.
“Most of the big names in the APC today met him in the APC. There are only a few original foundation chieftains of the party, and only such people can even attempt to say otherwise,” he said.
