INEC lists 1,303 candidates for 109 Senate seats, 3,560 others for 360 Reps seats

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the final list of nominated candidates for the 2027 National Assembly elections in line with Section 32(1) of the Electoral Act, 2026, which mandates publication at least 60 days before the election.

The list also contains 18 presidential candidates and their running mates.

A review of the list released by INEC on Saturday showed that a total of 1,303 candidates will contest for the 109 Senate seats, while 3,560 candidates are in the race for the 360 seats in the House of Representatives.

The window for withdrawal and replacement of presidential and National Assembly candidates closed on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

Campaigns began on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, in line with the 2027 election timetable. Party primaries were held between April 23 and May 30, 2026.

Presidential and National Assembly elections have been scheduled for Saturday, January 16, 2027.

A state-by-state breakdown shows that in Abia State, 40 candidates will fight for Abia North, Abia Central, and Abia South Senatorial Districts, while 92 candidates will battle to get eight (8) federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Adamawa State, 38 candidates will fight to secure the three seats for Adamawa North, Adamawa South, and Adamawa Central Senatorial Districts, while 95 candidates will contest the eight (8) federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Akwa Ibom, 37 candidates will slug it for the three seats for Akwa Ibom North East, Akwa Ibom North West, and Akwa Ibom South Senatorial Districts, while 103 candidates will fight for the 10 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Anambra State, 42 candidates will contest the three seats for Anambra North, Anambra Central, and Anambra South Senatorial Districts, while 108 candidates will battle to get 11 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Bauchi State, 31 candidates will contest the three seats for Bauchi South, Bauchi Central, and Bauchi North Senatorial Districts, while 123 candidates will slug it out for the 12 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Bayelsa State, 45 candidates will battle to secure the three seats for Bayelsa East, Bayelsa Central, and Bayelsa West Senatorial Districts, while 61 candidates will contest the five federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Benue State, 39 candidates will run to secure the three seats for Benue North East, Benue North West, Benue South Senatorial Districts, while 118 candidates will fight to get 11 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Borno State, 33 candidates will fight to secure the three seats for Borno North, Borno Central, and Borno South Senatorial Districts, while 72 candidates will battle to get 10 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Cross River State, 25 candidates will slug it out to secure the three seats for Cross River North, Cross River Central, and Cross River South Senatorial Districts, while 63 candidates will fight to get eight (8) federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Delta State, 43 candidates will contest the three seats for Delta Central, Delta North, Delta South Senatorial Districts, while 116 candidates will run to secure the 10 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Ebonyi State, 30 candidates will battle to get the three seats for Ebonyi North, Ebonyi Central, and Ebonyi South Senatorial Districts, while 65 candidates will struggle to secure the six federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Edo State, 26 candidates will fight to secure the three seats for Edo Central, Edo North, and Edo South Senatorial Districts, while 51 candidates will slug it out to get eight (8) federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Ekiti State, 19 candidates will battle to secure the three seats for Ekiti North, Ekiti Central, Ekiti South Senatorial Districts, while 36 candidates will run for the six (6) federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Enugu State, 38 candidates will fight to secure the three seats for Enugu East, Enugu West, and Enugu North Senatorial Districts, while 75 candidates will battle to get eight federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 20 candidates will battle to secure the sole senatorial seat for the territory, while 37 candidates will battle to get the three federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Gombe State, 37 candidates will slug it out to secure the three seats for Gombe Central, Gombe South, and Gombe North Senatorial Districts, while 64 candidates will contest six federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Imo State, 45 candidates will contest the three seats for Imo East, Imo West, and Imo North Senatorial Districts, while 140 candidates will battle to get 10 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Jigawa State, 31 candidates will battle to secure the three seats for Jigawa South West, Jigawa North East, and Jigawa North West Senatorial Districts, while 85 candidates will slug it out to secure 11 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Kaduna State, 33 candidates will fight to get the three seats for Kaduna North, Kaduna Central, Kaduna South Senatorial Districts, while 151 candidates will battle to get 15 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Kano State, 48 candidates will fight to secure the three seats for Kano Central, Kano North, and Kano South Senatorial Districts, while 251 candidates will battle to get 24 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Katsina State, 23 candidates will fight to secure the three seats for Katsina North, Katsina South, and Katsina Central Senatorial Districts, while 104 candidates will contest the 15 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Kebbi State, 35 candidates will fight to secure the three seats for Kebbi North, Kebbi Central, and Kebbi South Senatorial Districts, while 62 candidates will battle to get eight (8) federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Kogi, 42 candidates will slug it out to secure the three seats for Kogi Central, Kogi East, and Kogi West Senatorial Districts, while 94 candidates will fight to secure nine federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Kwara, 35 candidates are battling to secure the three seats for Kwara North, Kwara Central, and Kwara South Senatorial Districts, while 65 candidates will battle for the six federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Lagos State, 36 candidates will fight to secure the three seats for Lagos Central, Lagos East, and Lagos West Senatorial Districts, while 184 candidates will battle to get 23 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Nasarawa State, 36 candidates will also fight to secure the three seats for Nasarawa North, Nasarawa West, and Nasarawa South Senatorial Districts, while 61 candidates will battle to get five federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Niger State, 34 candidates will contest the three seats for Niger East, Niger North, and Niger South Senatorial Districts, while 92 candidates will run for the 10 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Ogun State, 37 candidates will battle to secure the three seats for Ogun Central, Ogun East, and Ogun West Senatorial Districts, while 95 candidates will battle to get nine federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Ondo State, 31 candidates will slug it out to secure the three seats for Ondo North, Ondo Central, and Ondo South Senatorial Districts, while 91 candidates will battle to get nine federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Osun, 39 candidates will struggle to secure the three seats for Osun Central, Osun West, and Osun East Senatorial Districts, while 81 candidates will contest the nine federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Oyo State, 38 candidates will fight for the three seats for Oyo Central, Oyo North, and Oyo South Senatorial Districts, while 151 candidates will run to get 14 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Plateau State, 32 candidates will contest to secure the three seats for Plateau South, Plateau Central, Plateau North Senatorial Districts, while 86 candidates will battle for the eight federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Rivers State, 41 candidates will fight to secure the three seats for Rivers East, Rivers South East, and Rivers West Senatorial Districts, while 146 candidates will contest 13 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Sokoto State, 36 candidates will battle to secure the three seats for Sokoto East, Sokoto North, and Sokoto South Senatorial Districts, while 138 candidates will strive to get 11 federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Taraba State, 35 candidates will fight to secure the three seats for Taraba South, Taraba Central, Taraba North Senatorial Districts, while 70 candidates will battle to get six federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Yobe State, 36 candidates will fight to secure the three seats for Yobe East, Yobe North, and Yobe South Senatorial Districts, while 62 candidates will contest the six federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

In Zamfara State, 37 candidates will slug it out to get the three seats for Zamfara North, Zamfara Central, Zamfara West Senatorial Districts, while 72 candidates will battle to get seven federal constituency seats in the House of Representatives.

With the final list now published, political parties and candidates are expected to intensify campaigns ahead of the January 16, 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
