Abiodun Alabi appointed new Lagos police commissioner as Odumosu retires

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has appointed Abiodun Alabi as the new Commissioner of Police for Lagos State.

Alabi would take over from Hakeem Odumosu who was recently promoted to the rank of an Assistant Inspector General of Police.

It was  learnt that Odumosu, upon retirement next week, would formally hand over to Alabi.

A statement on Friday by the Force spokesman, Frank Mba, said Alabi is a fellow of the National Defence College and a member of the Nigeria Institute of Management.

An alumnus of the University of Lagos where he studied Sociology and a Master’s Degree holder from Obafemi Awolowo University, Alabi was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force in 1990 as a cadet officer.

He has served as the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Police Mobile Force, Force Headquarters, Abuja; DCP Admin Taraba and Bayelsa Commands respectively, and as DCP Operations, Ekiti State Command before his promotion to the rank of commissioner of police.

Until his recent redeployment, he was the CP Administration, FCID Abuja
