A former presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a credible alternative for the 2027 elections, describing its key players as part of the nation’s problems.

Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Hashim-Olawepo said that, apart from a few exceptions, most ADC leaders were linked to previous administrations.

He blamed them for insecurity, economic challenges, and the politicization of religion in Northern Nigeria.

He explained that many leaders in the ADC, as well as those in the DPP, were part of past administrations he described as problematic, particularly during the Buhari government.

He said, “Most of the players in the ADC were part of the recent problem. Apart from Peter Obi and Atiku, the ADC elements are all Buhari’s.”

“They are part of the problem, the problem of weaponizing religion in Northern Nigeria, insecurity, and a bankrupt economy. They were part of the problem.”

Hashim-Olawepo added that seeking alternatives from parties he believes contributed to past governance failures would be counterproductive.

“You cannot go from the frying pan into the fire. So, don’t go from PDP to ADC,” he stressed.
