The Director-General of the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s governorship candidate Agboola Ajayi’s campaign in Irele Local Government Area, Ondo State, ahead of the forthcoming governorship election, Mohammad Sanni Oladele, has been accused of kidnapping and ritual killings.

Oladele was accused of this allegation by a group called ‘Concerned Citizens of Ondo State’ in a letter addressed to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, by their solicitor, Barrister Douglas Najima of Chatham Partners.

The petition partly reads: “Mohammad Sanni Oladele is believed to be among those perpetrating unscrupulous acts of criminality in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, which has been under a series of threats and attacks by a group of unnamed persons.

“It is further believed that Mohammad Sanni Oladele is a close ally of some herbalists and ritualists known for their involvement in occult and ritual practices.

“In light of the above, our client has expressed concern and seeks an investigation into the activities of Mohammad Sanni Oladele, who boasts of his influence and connections to avert his unlawful activities, thereby affording him a level of protection that has so far hindered any meaningful investigation.

“It is accordingly our humble request that you kindly intervene and direct the appropriate arm of your good office to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrator(s) and any other persons found culpable to justice so that the law can take its course.”

Meanwhile, the IGP referred the case to the AIG, Zone 17 Headquarters, Akure, Ondo State, in a letter dated 30th August 2024, with reference number CB: 7000/IGP/.SEC/ABJ/VOL/.745/372, for investigation.

However, it was reliably gathered that Sanni Oladele was arrested in connection with the allegations and has been released while investigations are ongoing.

While he was in detention, Sani was alleged to have confessed that Mr. Agbo Ola Ajayi, the PDP governorship candidate in Ondo State has been given him a covering up by assigning his police orderly and civil defense

corps to him to provide security cover. He allegedly added that he has donated twenty nine motorcycles to the PDP governorship candidate campaign team in Ode Irele and that he has supported the campaign activities with eighty million naira.

Sani was equally alleged to have confessed to the allegations levied against him even as incriminating materials were allegedly recovered from his house. In the same nature, the accused was alleged to have confessed to having also swindled one Ondo State monarch of over four hundred and fifty million naira.

A police source who spoke on the condition of anonymity confirmed that they arrested Alhaji Sanni sleeping in his room at Ode-irele on Friday, 6th of September 202, littered with fresh blood.

Responding to the petition on behalf of Sanni Oladele, Hon. Peter Anjorin Dagbatan, known as Opekete, dismissed the allegations as unfounded, citing a lack of evidence to support the claims.

He hinted that the allegations could be politically motivated, given the proximity to the upcoming election.

He emphasized that they are handling the matter diplomatically, allowing the investigation to run its course.

When contacted, AIG Zone 17 spokesperson, Akeem Adeoye, informed me that the case is under investigation.
