APC to hold S’West congress March 25
The South-West zone of the All Progressives Congress has announced its congress fixed for Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in Lagos State.
This was contained in a statement jointly issued on Thursday in Akure, Ondo State, by the South-West Zonal Chairman, Zonal Secretary and the Zonal Organising Secretary, Isaacs Kekemeke, Mr Vincent Bewaji and Lateef Ibirogba, respectively.
According to the statement, the South-West zonal congress would be held at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos.
In the statement, the leadership of the party in the zone said the high-stakes gathering, billed to commence at 9:00 am, was part of a nationwide exercise approved by the party’s national secretariat towards consolidating its internal structures ahead of the national convention and future electoral contests.
The statement read, “The zonal leadership of the APC has outlined a comprehensive list of statutory delegates expected to participate in the congress, in accordance with Article 12.7 of its constitution.
“These include the zonal chairman, past zonal chairmen, and all members of the zonal executive committee.
“Also listed are serving and former governors from the zone, current and former members of the National Assembly, as well as serving and past principal officers of state Houses of Assembly.
“Also, state party chairmen, members of the National Executive Committee, National Assembly caucus members, and other statutory delegates to the national convention are equally expected to attend.”
The ruling party urged all accredited delegates to be punctual and adhere strictly to the guidelines governing the exercise.
The zonal congress is expected to play a strategic role in shaping alliances, reaffirming leadership structures, and reinforcing party unity within the region, which comprises Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states.
The statement added that the congress “will serve as a critical platform for reviewing the APC’s progress in the South-West zone, strengthening cohesion among stakeholders, and positioning the party for greater electoral success.”
