APC wins 21 LG chairman, 239 councillor seats in Kogi
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has won all 21 chairmanship positions and 239 councillorship seats in the Kogi State local government elections.
Announcing the results at the headquarters of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, KOSIEC, in Lokoja, the Commission’s Chairman, Mamman Eri, declared the APC winner across all contested positions.
The exercise was scheduled to cover 239 wards and 3,508 polling units across the state, with voter turnout varying across locations.
Eri commended security operatives, election observers, ad hoc staff and other stakeholders for their professionalism and conduct throughout the exercise.
He added that the Commission remains committed to conducting elections that meet democratic standards.
Meanwhile, civil society groups have commended the peaceful conduct of the elections but called for increased voter sensitisation and greater transparency to strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.
They also urged KOSIEC to address concerns raised in previous elections and take steps to build greater public trust in future exercises.
