Primaries election that is supposed to produce the governorship candidate that will represent the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the next governorship election of Ekiti state slated for 14 July, has been put on hold due to complains of irregularities by the majority of the governorship aspirants.
The primaries which started earlier today at the Michael Olukayode Stadium, Ado –Ekiti under the supervision of chairman organizing committee, Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state, was suspended due to violent that erupted following accusation of fraud leveled against Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who is also participating in the process. The Director General of Babafemi Ojudu’s campaign organization, Ranti Adebisi, in his interview monitored on a television station, said there was a need for the process to be suspended because of fraud he said had taken over the whole process. He specifically alleged that Fayemi was using his influence to gain upper hand ahead of other aspirants. He also accused security agents, DSS particularly of compromise in favor of the minister of solid minerals.
However, as at the time of filling report, the chairman of the organizing committee, Governor Al-Makura, it was learnt had gone into a meeting with the aspirants in view of finding a solution to the crisis that will ensure the voting process is completed.
