Filmmaker Kayode Peters buried in Canada

Kayode Peters, a renowned Nigerian filmmaker and television producer is laid to rest in Canada.

 

Peters was buried on Saturday, August 2, 2025, following a funeral service attended by close family members and friends.

 

 

A video circulating on social media shows mourners at the interment as the late filmmaker’s body was lowered into the grave.

 

 

The service, held in a Christian tradition, was marked by tears and solemn hymns, including the popular “It Is Well,” which guests were heard singing through their grief.

 

The 49-year-old celebrated filmmaker died on June 28 in Toronto during a battle with an undisclosed illness.

 

 

He was known for his significant contributions to Nigerian television and theatre.

 

Peters began his artistic career with the University of Lagos-based Theatre 15 group before transitioning into television.

 

 

He gained widespread recognition for creating the popular sitcom Flatmates in 2004 and later served as the executive producer of its revival, My Flatmates.

 

He also worked on successful productions such as Twilight Zone and Papa Ajasco and Company among others.
