Prince Oladega Ibrahim, a former Special Assistant to the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has added his voice to the growing condemnation that has continued to trail the attack meted out on the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Lagos State, Cornelius Ojelabi, saying the incident is condemnable in totality.

Some members of the APC in Alimosho, during a protest on Monday at the party’s secretariat, manhandled the party chairman and attempted to beat him before he was rescued by security agents and whisked into his office.

The protesters were allegedly angry that members of their caucus were denied access to a meeting convened by Mr. Ojelabi to reconcile disagreeing groups in the local government area.

The former Lagos State House of Assembly aspirant, Prince Ibrahim, said in a statement made available on Wednesday that the attack on the chairman was unacceptable.

“It’s no longer news about the incident that took place at our secretariat, where some members of the APC from Alimosho carried out an attack on the state chairman of our party, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi. I want to use this opportunity to say that there is nothing that can be worse than that. The act is condemnable and unacceptable.” Ibrahim said.

The broadcaster turned politician frowned at the means through which these Alimosho members adopted to express their grievances, saying such unruly action is not expected to be displayed in an organized setting and environment.

“It’s totally unheard of that some members, for whatever reasons, would actually carry out such a mindless attack on our chairman. It’s not impossible that they have a situation they are not comfortable with, but attacking the chairman, Pastor Ojelabi, is totally out of the question. This is an organized setting and environment where people are expected to be civilized in their actions.” He added.

In the same vein, Ibrahim charges the party authority not to let the ugly incident go without being given the appropriate attention. He emphasizes the need to bring the perpetrators to book to serve as a deterrent, just as he advised adequate measures should be put in place to prevent such shameful occurrences in the future.
