Group Slams Agboyi/Ketu Council Boss, Osinowo, Over False Alarm, Cautions Him Over Attack on Oladega Ibrahim

A political group, Agboyi Ketu of Our Dreams (AKOUD), has berated the Chairman of Agboyi Ketu Local Council Development Authority Area, Mayor Dele Osinowo, for allegedly feeding the public with a story that never existed through an online media platform, Kosofe Post.

Kosofe Post reported days ago that Osinowo was attacked at a function that was held on Agboyi Island, a community under Agboyi Ketu Local Council. It was also alleged that Prince Oladega Ibrahim, former Special Assistant on Political Matters (South West) to former Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, masterminded the alleged attack.

However, in a statement made available to JustNews, refuting the tale of any kind of attack on Dele Osinowo, the group presented detailed information of what transpired, which was unfortunately twisted to be an attack on the council boss. The group also explained what it suspected to be the reason why Osinowo raised a false alarm, just as it advised Kosofe Post on the need to be more circumspect in its duty. In the same vein, the group categorically stated that Prince Oladega would, in due time, declare his interest in the chairmanship position of Agboyi Ketu Local Council. It also warned Osinnowo against attacking the personality of Prince Oladega, while further advising him on what to do rather than make a career out of going after the Prince.

Read the statement below:

It has come to our attention a news item reported by Kosofe Post in which the chairman of Agboyi Ketu LCDA, Dele Osinowo, was purportedly attacked at the drive-through ceremony of the new  Agboyi Link Bridge recently. Prince Oladega Ibrahim, who happens to be the former Special Assistant on Political Matters (South West) to the immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, was equally accused in the story of having been the brain behind the purported attack.

We are ordinarily not supposed to respond to the misinformation menu served by Kosofe Post as regards what happened at the Drive-Through ceremony, but for record purposes as well as to set the records straight, we decided to issue a reaction.

Again, if the name of the former SA to the former Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, on political matters in the South West, Prince Oladega Ibrahim, was not mentioned, we may have maintained the usual silence, but it was important to let the world know what actually transpired.

To start with, Dele Osinowo was at the venue of the inspection before the arrival of Prince Oladega Ibrahim, who later arrived in the company of his 2-year-old daughter, Princess Moradeun Oladega.

Upon an understanding between Olu Agboyi and Dele Osinowo that priority should be given to Kabiesi’s vehicle to lead the way to the bridge as the vehicle would be personally driven by Kabiesi, Prince Oladega sorted the audience of Osinowo’s PA, Mr. Moshood, who was beside the chairman’s vehicle in the company of the chairman’s two fully armed police officers, to share the brief so he could make necessary arrangements. Prince Oladega momentarily joined the Kabiesi’s vehicle that was right behind him, and in the course of the brief wait to enable the Chairman to carry out the agreement by reversing his vehicle so that the two vehicles could proceed on the historical ride, it was however a surprise to see the Chairman’s vehicle suddenly turn back in an attempt to depart the event. All this happened almost in the blink of an eye.

Expectedly, people began to move close to the chairman’s vehicle to know what the issue was, even as Prince Oladega also disembarked from the Kabiesi’s vehicle to go near the chairman’s vehicle to inquire from his PA what the problem was, and the PA, Mr. Moshood, said one of the youths tapped the chairman’s vehicle, a bus, which infuriated the chairman and therefore he decided to leave the venue. It was immediately that Prince went straight into the chairman’s bus to appeal and plead with him to ignore the incident and let things continue as planned. Meanwhile, while Prince was in the bus to ensure things went smoothly, one of the chairman’s aides, Alaba Saliu, was shouting at the Prince to get out of the bus. As the gentleman he is, Prince refused to get provoked but responded that he would get out of the vehicle only if the chairman asked him to do so. The chairman, Dele Osinowo, also didn’t utter a word. While that was going on, a few chiefs came around to speak with the chairman, and a few minutes later, he turned back, and the two vehicles proceeded on the historical ride.

Contrary to the information dished by Kosofe Post, the Olu Agboyi, Oba Monsuru Abimbola Oladega, never stepped down from his car, less settling any issues between any parties. The chairman also made his remarks in the course of the event, and at no point did he make any comments that he was attacked.

It was much later, however, that Prince Oladega found out that his vehicle was tapped when his reluctance to reverse for Kabiesi’s vehicle to  lead was noticed by the youths. It was also sensed that such action by the youth was borne out of an earlier issue that centered on the facilitation of the bridge, during which Dele Osinowo fraudulently claimed he made collaborative input to the facilitation of the bridge. A claim, however, was countered by the Agboyi Progressive Union (APU) that Dele was not only unaware of how the project was facilitated but that he also did step his foot at the project site for the period of thirteen months it took to complete the project and that it was upon the completion that he showed up to do a photo shoot on the bridge like a tourist, weeks after the engineer had departed the site. APU also wondered if Osinowo would have stayed away throughout the construction period if he had truly had any input in a project that cost as much as a billion naira.

Meanwhile, upon a critical look at the situation, it was concluded that the source of Mr. Chairman’s headache could not have been far from the chants of the youths that ‘2025 Agboyi lokan’ meaning, come 2025, it’s the turn of Agboyi to produce the Council Chairman. Having said that, AKOUD is of the opinion that no reasonable mind would fault  action of the  youths because, since the  creation of Agboyi Ketu LCDA, no one from the two Agboyi Federal Wards has superintended over the affairs of the LCDA as the Chairman, Vice Chairman, SLG, or even a Supervisor.

At this point, we want to advise Kosofe Post to always endeavor to get its facts right so the platform doesn’t become a pun in the hands of manipulative politicians, because one can only conclude the convoy in which Dele Osinowo was purportedly attacked is imaginary since he came in with his entourage in just a vehicle,a bus to be precise.

Finally, we wish to advise the Chairman to go ahead and name his choice of successor rather than going around attacking the personality of the Golden Son of Agboyi Kingdom, Prince whom we presume is a friend and brother to the chairman. While the Prince has made an effort to caution the youths to be mindful of their actions and accord the Chairman his due respect, we in AKOUD are using this avenue to advise the Chairman to mend his ways with the youths and fulfill his social contracts with the people. It’s however, also not out of place to amplify that a single project, which is all Dele’s administration can boast of in the two federal wards in Agboyi, is not encouraging.
