I would’ve been in Osun if Tinubu wanted APC victory — Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said he would have been in Osun to help secure victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) if President Bola Tinubu had wanted the party to win the governorship election.

Wike made the statement on Tuesday while inspecting flood-prone areas in Maitama, Abuja, as he spoke about the outcome of the Osun governorship election.

The minister said Tinubu could have secured victory for the APC if he had decided to pursue the election “at all costs.”

On the Osun election, Wike said, “if the President had wanted to win the Osun State election at all costs, ‘I would have been there and we would have won it, and there’s nothing the governor can do.’”

Governor Ademola Adeleke was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Wike, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has continued to support the Tinubu administration despite remaining in the opposition party.

He also spoke about the 2027 general election, saying Tinubu would have an easier contest than he did in 2023 because of the weakened state of the opposition.

“2027 elections will be the easiest one for the President compared to 2023,” Wike said.

The minister added: “This time around, the opposition has been crippled, homeless, no feather.”
