Abba Yusuf reconciles Barau Jibrin with Kano rep, asks supporters to stop trading insults

Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano, has brokered a reconciliation between Barau Jibrin, deputy senate president, and Abubakar Kabir, chairman of the house of representatives committee on appropriation.

The reconciliation meeting, held in Abuja on Wednesday, lasted about two hours, during which the two APC leaders discussed their differences and the need to work together in the collective interest of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state.

The rift between the two federal lawmakers stemmed from a struggle for political dominance and control over party structures, leading their supporters to engage in heated exchanges.

Yusuf urged Barau, Kabir and their supporters to put their differences behind them, saying the APC can only strengthen its position at all levels when its leaders and members work together and put the party’s interests first.

The governor said the legislators need to work together for the success of President Bola Tinubu, Kano state government and all APC candidates, noting that political disagreements are part of democratic engagement, but should not be allowed to undermine the unity, stability and progress of the party.

He also appealed to their supporters to support the reconciliation effort by refraining from provocative remarks, personal attacks and other actions that could deepen divisions within the party.

“Henceforth, I do not expect any of your supporters to come out and abuse one another. We must put a stop to these unnecessary distractions,” Yusuf said.

In their separate remarks, Jibrin and Kabir urged their supporters to stop actions that could worsen divisions within the APC in Kano, and pledged to remain committed to the party’s growth and success at all levels.
