President Bola Tinubu has directed the deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State after Boko Haram terrorists killed villagers in Worro community on Tuesday night.

In a statement signed on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu announced that the new military command will lead Operation Savannah Shield, aimed at combating the terrorists and protecting vulnerable communities.

Condemning the attack as “cowardly and beastly,” President Tinubu described the gunmen as heartless for targeting defenseless civilians.

He expressed outrage that the attackers murdered community members who rejected extremist indoctrination and chose instead to practise Islam peacefully.

“It is commendable that the community members, even though Muslims, refused to be conscripted into a weird belief that promoted violence over peace and dialogue,” the president said.

He also called for collaboration between federal and state agencies to support the affected community and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

President Tinubu offered prayers for the deceased, extended condolences to the families of the victims, and commended the people and government of Kwara State for their resilience
