Yusuf Buhari secures APC ticket ‘unopposed’ for Katsina reps seat

Yusuf Buhari, son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua federal constituency seat in the 2027 elections unopposed.

On April 3, Yusuf declared his intention to run for the house of representatives seat on the platform of the APC.

“I am extremely delighted to inform you of my intention to contest for this position, as I aim to contribute to good leadership and bring development to our people,” he wrote in a letter addressed to party leaders in the constituency.

On April 23, Yusuf formally declared his ambition during a visit to Dikko Radda, governor of Katsina, at the government house.

However, NAN reports that Yusuf got the APC ticket unopposed on April 28 after a stakeholders’ meeting in Katsina, where he was unanimously adopted as the party’s candidate for the constituency.

Ahmed Dangiwa, chairman of the Daura zone consensus committee and former minister of housing and urban development, announced the adoption of Yusuf.

Speaking after the adoption, Mannir Musa, APC chairman in Mai’adua LGA, urged party members to accept the decision in good faith.

“I urge all our people to be obedient and accept the consensus reached by the committee and stakeholders in good faith. We should all work together for the unity and progress of the party and our people,” Musa said.

He also appealed to the state governor to support aspirants who did not secure tickets, calling on candidates who emerged through consensus to deliver effective representation if elected.

In his remarks, Yusuf thanked party members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to provide quality representation if elected.
