New police commissioners assigned to Ondo, Ekiti, other states
The Police Service Commission has announced the appointment and redeployment of six Commissioners of Police across various state commands in Nigeria.
The appointments come on the heels of recent promotions in the Nigeria Police Force as approved by the PSC last week.
According to a statement on Tuesday by the PSC spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, in the latest postings, CP Shettima Mohammed has been assigned to the Nasarawa State Command, while CP Rabin Mohammed will now lead the Kaduna State Command. Adepoju Adewale has been posted to the Rivers State Command.
He added that Mohammed Azare would assume leadership as the CP of Akwa Ibom State Command, Wilfred Afolabi has become the new CP for the Ondo State Command, and Joseph Eribo, who previously served as CP in Akwa Ibom, has been redeployed to Ekiti State as the new CP.
The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Deputy Inspector General Hashimu Argungu (retd.), stated that the appointments were a call to national service.
“He implored them to be committed to the government’s drive to stabilise the nation and effectively ensure that our states are free of crime and criminality.
“DIG Argungu said the commission would continue to monitor their progress report and would encourage them to succeed in their new endeavours. He charged them to reciprocate the government’s gesture by rededicating themselves to the service of their fatherland,” the statement added.
