Nigerian football star Lookman wins CAF Men’s Player of the Year award

 

Nigerian football sensation, Ademola Lookman, has been crowned CAF Men’s Player of the Year at a spectacular ceremony in Morocco, following a year of dazzling achievements.

Lookman’s exceptional performances on the pitch had earned him the prestigious award, with his crowning moment coming in the Europa League final, where he made history by netting a hat-trick to propel his club to victory.

 

His remarkable year continued as he helped Nigeria secure a silver medal at the African Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, scoring three goals in the tournament.

On the club front, the Atalanta forward consistently found the back of the net, further solidifying his status as one of Africa’s finest.

His stellar season didn’t go unnoticed on the global stage either, as he became the only African player among the 30 nominees for the Ballon d’Or, finishing an impressive 14th in the world rankings.

Fans and football analysts had anticipated this well-deserved recognition, and Lookman did not disappoint, clinching the award in Morocco.

 

In his acceptance speech, Lookman expressed his gratitude to God for the honour and thanked President Bola Tinubu, his teammates, and all those who supported him along the way.

He dedicated the accolade to Nigeria and his family, acknowledging their unwavering support.

With a message of inspiration for the next generation, Lookman urged young children, “Don’t let your failure weigh you down. Turn your pains into wings and continue to fly.”
