The Ogun State government has reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging Public Private Partnerships (PPP) as a key strategy to tackle infrastructure challenges and fast-track development.
The Director-General of PPP in the state, Dapo Oduwole, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday by his media aide, Kehinde Balogun.
Oduwole described PPP as a collaborative framework between the government and private sector to deliver critical infrastructure projects aimed at improving residents’ quality of life.
“Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration has created an enabling environment for PPP to thrive, and the rapid development recorded in the last six years is a result of deliberate partnerships,” he said.
Highlighting Ogun’s strategic advantage, Oduwole noted its proximity to Lagos makes it an investment hub for infrastructure and socio-economic initiatives.
He said the state is implementing successful PPP projects in agriculture, agro-processing, roads, transportation, healthcare, housing, and tourism, supported by enabling legislation and investor-friendly fiscal policies.
The DG commended investors’ growing interest, citing the Gateway International Agro Cargo Airport, recently approved for commercial flight operations, as a flagship project.
The airport, located within a Free Trade Zone, will feature a Special Agro Processing Zone (SAPZ), garment and textile hub, logistics and industrial parks, mixed-use real estate, and hospitality facilities, positioning Ogun as a major investment destination.
