OLOTA AND IS OKANLOMO TITLE, A JOKE TAKEN TOO FAR
The Awori indigenous forum have watched with keen interest the recent war of words on social media aftermath the purported titles of “Okan lo mo of Ota”, sorry “okan lo mo of Awori Ota” conferred by the Olota of Ota.
We believed Kabiesi wouldn’t have made such titles errors pronouncing our distinguish senator as the Okanlomo of Awori. The best he could have done was to pronounce him as Okanlomo of Awori Ota because we are aware that’s the limitations of Kabiesi when it comes to jurisdiction of power that only exists in Ota not even in Ado Odo. Am sure within a twinkle of an eye the owners of Ota will call Kabiesi to order as there are over 100 sons and daughters of Ota who fits in the position Kabiesi cheaply sold out.
However, several Awori groups have come out to condemn the bazaar by the Olota of Ota. We know Kabiesi as a Ph.D. holder and we believe Baba should know better, so we agreed that he understands the principles of separation of power as well as the limitations of clubs and association. Hence, his group is just an association and the club has no power to give such titles. Kabiesi, there is no Awori without Olofin Adimula of Isheri, Olofin Ado Odo, Oniru of Iru, Ojora of Ijora, Elegushi of Ikate, Oniba of Iba, Olu Agboyi, Ojomu of Ajiran, Oloto of Oto and many other notable Aworis Obas across lagos and Ogun.
There are several clubs in Awori lands that are saddled for the development and promotion of Awori integrity, culture as well as its values. We, as members of the Awori Indigenous Forum, can be traced to so many positive impacts that have shaped the course of Awori lands. From Kosofe to Lagos East, we are the voice of Awori when it’s comes to Awori values.
Recently, a letter was sent to the office of the Honourable Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs in Lagos State to stop similar action when it’s was rumoured that the Onikosi Oba Alamu Onikosi was trying to conferred the title of Olori omo oba of kosofe on one Adeyinka from Ìjẹ̀bú igbo and Sagamu a land agent at Isheri Oke, the butterfly that thinks himself a Bird. This was a similar occurrence and today the rest is history as the Onikosi denied the allegations despite the distribution of the invitation as his omo oye was unable to describe his family house in kosofe not to talk of Isheri. When the Kosofe Obas invited the Onikosi, he denied the action and that was the end of the matter until another promax of such News of regrettable action from our father with a PhD Oba Dr. Abdulkabir Adeyemi lanlege the Olota of Ota decided to sell us cheap to our distinguish senator.
The AIF wants to use this opportunity to call on Awori think thank, ANC, Awori resource Group and the great AWAN to call HRM the Olota of Ota to order as regards Awori values as Awori identity is our common wealth which must be properly guarded and protected. We, the AIF, came out strongly when the Lagos State House of Assembly was trying to rewrite our history by margin kosofe with ikorodu, Eti Ọsa with Epe, Alimosho with Badagry division and today that bill never saw the light of the day as LAHA saw the reason to halt the move. We want to emphasize that if in less than two years of the distinguished senator Yayi in Ogun West the Olota is already putting Awori on Jiji ki wa ni ki awon Oba lagos West se o? at least they have known Yayi for almost 20 years. Even our distinguish senator yayi is still being criticized by the Yewas, his family and birth origins is being questioned till today.
The Awori indigenous Forum (AIF) want to say that kudos should be given to the Lagos West Obas for accommodating the newly discovered Yewa son for close to 2 decades without putting their ancestry integrity for sales. Lagos West Obas never for ones bestowed any title of Awori umbrella to their senator , so we wondered why our monarch with Ph.D couldn’t tread with caution as regards the integrity of Awori which kabiesi was trying to slaughter over a few dollars. We want to say that Awori is bigger than the Olota, may be we should remind kabiesi that Awori has 15 out of 20 local government in Lagos and at no point did Obas in Lagos make any frivolous titles in the name of the Awori land.
We are sure that Awori’s has less than 7 local government in Ogun state.
We hope kabiesi, will have the time to visit the council of Awori obas in Lagos and see the sophistication of Lagos monarch systems. The Lagos Awori Obas has a functional office of her own. However, the late Oba Yekini Elegushi was the former Chairman of the Lagos Awori Obas in Lagos before Kabiesi Alayeluwa Oba Akinloye Ojomu of Ajiran was appointed by the Lagos Awori Obas. Olota should know that any personality with a title that bears the name “Awori” is an ambassador of the Awori race in general, hence the many other Awori monarchs will be affected either positively or negatively by the bearer of such title.
The last time we checked, we are called We wonder when the Olota becomes the head of all Awori Obas. However, we need to remind kabiesi that the Awori house was built in Lagos by the Awori in Lagos and Ogun State respectively while the so-called Okanlomo have no dime in the historical edifice. Also, Awori day was celebrated less than 2 years ago, we don’t need to remind kabiesi that his okanlomo has no single footprint on the events.
Recently, one of the pride of Aworis Dr. Aminat Ige was celebrated globally by the Aworis when she Emerged as the over all best Ph.D thesis at the University of Lagos we’re sure the Okanlomo of Olota would be reading that for the first time despite coming from Akesan one of the ancient Awori town in Alimosho.
The AWAN have continued to raise the flag of Aworis higher in the area of education by starting the construction of Awori hall at LASU in the last 5 years and am sure the Olota is aware that, LASU is one of the senatorial constituency of the purported “Okanlomo” but he didn’t have a penny in the historical project.
The Secretariat of the Lagos Awori Obas was built in Alimosho his immediate constituency before the distinguish senator change baton to Ogun West, yet he has no single dime on the project. Alayeluwa should be reminded that ẹni ba ta àrà ilé ẹ lọpọ, ko le rira to ba di ọ̀wọ́n.
It’s clear that kabiesi only live in Ota but couldn’t identify the greatness of the people of Ota across the world, Kabiesi should start and concentrate his authority on Ota, with that, he will know that Ota alone is blessed with several Okanlomo’s.
Just in case Kabiesi didn’t know how great Aworis are, Kabiesi can consult, AWAN to give him names of notable Awori’s doing greater things across the globe and deserving of such title.
On a final note, we call on all Lagos Awori Obas to schooled kabiesi on the importance of historical inheritance and how it must be protected. We hope the people of Ota will find a better time to educate Olota that ‘a kii ta ara ile ẹni lọpọ’ and that there are several Okanlomo in Ota not to talk of the entire Awori race.
For recommendations, Kabiesi should check the CV of senator Odunsi, HE Orelope Adefulure, HE Engr. Noimot Salako Oyedele, Reverend Mother Esther Abimbola Ajayi, Senator Dr. Idiat Adebule, Prof. Lanre Fagboun SAN, Hon. Kayode Opeifa, Rt Hon Mosunmola Miranda, Hon. Anofi Elegushi, Hon. Ojugbele MHR and many more should be put forward to Awori elders who has the right to recommend such titles to the authority who has the right to make such titles.
Let’s promote our own,The Awujale of Ijebu land installed Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde as Olori Omo Oba and no one questions the origin or the genuity of his lineage. If the Olota wants to put the Aworis in Ota under the bus because of his selfish ambition we are not perturbed he should exclude the beautiful and amazing Aworis in Lagos.
AWORI must rise beyond personal gains. Ogboli Mukaila Bankole for AIF.
