Akure, Ondo State – Friday, March 27, 2026

In a heart-warming demonstration of humility, continuity and reverence for legendary leadership, the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Ondo State, Dr Kayode Ajulo, OON, SAN, paid a private courtesy call on the nonagenarian titan and revered Leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fashoranti, CFR, at his Akure residence today.

The visit, which has become a cherished tradition for the Attorney General, underscores his deep-seated belief that true governance is rooted in the fertile soil of elder statesmen’s counsel. At about 100 years young, Pa Fashoranti, the iconic Yoruba patriarch, former Commissioner for Finance in the old Ondo State, and one of the most respected voices in Nigeria’s democratic journey, remains a living encyclopedia of wisdom, integrity and visionary leadership.

During the warm, extended interaction, with Baba two children, Funmilayo and Taiwo, the Secretary to the State Government in attendance, the Attorney General seized the golden opportunity to brief the elder statesman on the bold strides of the Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa-led administration. He painted a vivid picture of the unprecedented physical transformation sweeping across Ondo State, from the world-class beautification of Akure with its ultra-modern road intersections and aesthetic traffic lights, to the massive infrastructure revolution redefining the landscape of the Sunshine State.

Pa Fashoranti listened with rapt attention, his eyes lighting up with paternal pride as he offered strategic pearls of wisdom drawn from a century of nation-building experience. The elder statesman applauded the Governor’s developmental tempo, urging sustained focus on people-centred governance, fiscal prudence, youth empowerment, and the preservation of Yoruba cultural values in the face of modern challenges.

“I have always made it a sacred duty to sit at the feet of giants like Pa Fashoranti,” the Attorney General remarked after the meeting. “His life is a testament that leadership is not about noise, but about service, sacrifice, and the quiet strength of character. In him, Ondo State and the Yoruba nation have a priceless national asset whose counsel continues to light our path. Every word he shared today will be woven into the fabric of our governance philosophy.”

The Attorney General described the session as “profoundly enriching and spiritually uplifting,” noting that such engagements are vital for bridging the gap between generations and ensuring that government policies are not only visionary but also deeply rooted in the collective wisdom of our forebears.

He reaffirmed his commitment to making these visits a permanent fixture, describing them as “pilgrimages of honour” that keep leaders grounded and accountable to the values that built the nation.
The visit further cements the harmonious synergy between the current administration and the revered icons of the state, sending a powerful message of unity, respect for tradition, and purposeful governance.

Pa Fashoranti, visibly delighted by the gesture, prayed fervently for the continued success of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration and the overall progress of Ondo State.
