Factional National Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu on Sunday dismissed his expulsion from the party, saying “nobody can expel me.”

Anyanwu stated this while responding to questions on Channels TV’s Politics Today. He responded to the PDP resolution to expel 15 members over alleged anti-party activities, during the just concluded National Convention of the party held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Responding to the expulsion following a motion moved by Chief Bode George, he said: “I just told you that I was not expelled. Who expelled me? What platform do they have to expel me? And even beside that, even when they tried to do that, remember when they were forming this, supposedly they didn’t.

“This is a committee headed by Tom Ikimi, which is saying that they have been committed for my suspension. It was not today. I go to court. It’s a court judgment. It’s a court of order. Look at it here.”

While maintaining that “nobody should ever contemplate suspending or expelling me from the party,” Senator Anyanwu observed that the motion was for the elected to spend four years in office and by date elapsed on the last midnight of December 25 to have saved the nation’s future.

“If there was a convention, yes, there was a NEC meeting.”

He however alleged that no fewer than 16 states are yet to conduct Congress, saying that “the entire South-East has never have a Congress,” adding that there is no executive of the PDP from Anambra State that voted during the Ibadan Convention.

“The constitution of our party is very clear. The one that I have asked somebody to say at the podium when they were celebrating, you know, doing their term of the task and all that, saying that we must obey the constitution of the party.”

While expressing fate in the rule of law, Senator Anyanwu said: “we believe in the rule of law. And for that reason, we are going to obey the constitution. Don’t forget that this woman wants to appeal to the judgement at the Appeal Court.”

He however denied procuring judgment, saying, “That’s my language. You don’t have evidence to the fact that it was procured.

“There was no procuring. There was no procuring. There was a full judgment. There was a full judgment.”

When asked about the faceoff between him and party’s former National Chairman, Illyas Damagun, Senator Anyanwu said: “Damagun is my friend. But because of the incompetence which I have covered up for him, he handed over our party to the Governor.

“He even asked the amongst members of the national committee. As we speak, they will tell you that the governor of the party is Damagun.”

When confronted with allegation of “working together to kill the PDP”, Senator Anyanwu denied the allegation, saying: “Let me let me tell you the truth. If there is anybody that wants this party to live, that will stand the test of time, it’s Wike.

“And I can tell you that. I can beat my chest and say that. Don’t forget too, that when we get, even though he did not lose that position properly, but when he was negotiating out, I supported the party, I supported my party. When he had his G5, I was not part of the G5. I worked for the party.

“So, how would we get up one day to kill the party? Don’t forget I ran the governorship under this platform. And if I had the potential to do so, it’s still under the same platform, so how would I let the party be killed?

“But the right thing must be done. The right thing must be done. The right thing is that the right, we have to obey the rule of law, we have to obey the judgment of God.

“Don’t forget that most of these Governors, they couldn’t go… If when they went to Tribunal, if the Supreme Court had not given them that judgment, they wouldn’t have even asked Governors.

“Because the people obeyed the, the opponents obeyed the judgment. So, it’s an ego thing. What they saw is an ego, what they are seeing is an ego thing.

Senator Anyanwu who accused Governor Makinde of spearheading the crisis in the party, he said: “you know why? Because part of the problem in the death and end of the sea was caused by him.

I can tell you. How? He divided the end of the sea. He tried to pull those who were from the South West to work with them and those outside the South West. That’s just the truth.”

While responding to questions on the current disaffection between the FCT Minister and Governor Makinde, he said: “They were political friends. Of course, listen, let me tell you. Makinde and Bala and myself picked firm to run for governor.

“In 2019, the same day. I won my primary before them. My own was taken away from me. I was given to Ihedioha. And I didn’t die. I moved on with my life. So, they know that I know him very well. I have done something against him. But he should leave all this ego thing, put the party together, unless he has an ulterior motive. Otherwise, from what I heard, he wants to run for president.

“All I was expecting from him is to move on and to put the party together.”

When asked whether Governor Makinde discussed his presidential ambition with him, Senator Anyanwu said: “It’s all over now. It’s all over. Of course he has never told me. But it’s all over the media, social media, even the platforms you see there.
