Sanwo-Olu hosts spelling bee winner as Lagos one-day governor
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, has congratulated Esther Etiyemonu, a student at Lagos State Senior Model College Igbokuta, for emerging as a one-day governor of the state.
In a post shared on X, Sanwo-Olu said he hosted Etiyemonu on Monday after she won the 21st Lagos spelling bee competition held recently in the state, praising her dedication and achievements.
“Her confidence, focus, and hard work stand out. She represents the very best of our youth, and I am incredibly proud of her achievements,” the governor wrote.
While handing over his seat to the one-day governor, Sanwo-Olu added, “Esther, all of Lagos is rooting for you and your bright future. Congratulations once again.”
She was accompanied by the one-day deputy governor, Awoyemi Dorcas; the one-day secretary to the state government (SSG), Salami Jumai Olaide; and their parents.
The governor also commended Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s first lady, for creating the one-day governor initiative, which, he said, continues to nurture young leaders across the state.
