Saraki pays tribute to Pa Fasoranti, says his good name will endure
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has paid tribute to elder statesman and Afenifere leader Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, following his death at the age of 100.
In a post on X, Saraki recalled celebrating Fasoranti’s 100th birthday in May, when he described the elder statesman as a man who had lived for a century “and not a stain on his name.”
“When I celebrated Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti’s 100th birthday in May, I wrote, ‘100 years, and not a stain on his name.’ Today, as the nation mourns his passing, I return to those words. To live so long, with so much responsibility, and retain the respect of generations is a remarkable achievement,” he wrote.

“We were fortunate to have him with us for a century. Still, saying farewell to an elder of his standing is painful. His life reminds us how much a good name matters, and the care we must take to preserve it,” he added.
The former Senate President also extended his condolences to the late elder statesman’s family, Afenifere and the Ondo State Government.
“On behalf of my family, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Fasoranti family, Afenifere, and the Government and people of Ondo State. I hope his loved ones find comfort in the affection and respect with which Baba will be remembered across our country,” Saraki said.
