Tompolo moves to capture North for Tinubu, donates campaign vehicles
High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, has launched the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Katsina State, describing the initiative as part of efforts to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election.
Tompolo, who is the founder and convener of the movement, chose Katsina as the first state for its northern launch at the weekend where 34 local government coordinators were inaugurated and campaign vehicles presented to them at the People’s Square, Katsina.
Speaking during the flag-off and inauguration, Tompolo, represented by High Chief Kestin Ebimorbowei Pondi said the relationship between Tinubu and Katsina was based on trust, confidence and inclusion.
He urged members of the movement to take the message of President Tinubu’s administration to the grassroots through door-to-door engagements in wards, communities, markets and households.
During the inauguration, 34 campaign vehicles were distributed to 34 local government coordinators of the movement.
In his address, Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, assured President Bola Tinubu of the state’s support for his re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.
The governor described Katsina as a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that all elected political office holders in the state are members of the party and that its structure remains united across the 34 local government areas.
“Katsina State is an APC state. Every elected person in Katsina State is a member of the All Progressives Congress, and I want to assure you that Katsina State has a special attachment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Radda said.
He traced the relationship between Tinubu and Katsina to longstanding ties with prominent northern political leaders, recalling the president’s role in the political process that culminated in the emergence of the late President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.
Radda commended the founder and convener of the movement, Tompolo, for choosing Katsina as the first state in the North to launch the initiative.
He said the choice was significant, given the historical relationship between northern Nigeria and the Niger Delta, citing the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s Presidential Amnesty Programme as an example of cooperation that promoted peace and development.
Similarly, the state coordinator of the Renewed Hope movement and former Deputy Governor, Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi, said Katsina had historically played a significant role in Nigeria’s political development.
He said the APC remained united across the state’s 361 wards and 34 local government areas, assuring that the movement would intensify its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
