US commends FG’s response to Middle Belt attacks
The United States has commended the Nigerian government for what it described as a strong response to recent attacks by Fulani militant groups, while urging the authorities to sustain efforts to protect vulnerable communities in the Middle Belt.
The US said it would continue to work with the Nigerian government to protect Christians in the region, specifically calling for increased protection of communities in Barkin Ladi, Plateau.
The commendation was contained in a statement posted by the US Department of State: Bureau of African Affairs on its Facebook handle on Wednesday.
“The United States commends Nigeria’s strong response to the latest attacks from Fulani militant groups.
“We will continue to work with the Nigerian government to protect Christians in the Middle Belt.
“We urge Nigeria to continue the momentum and defend the Barkin Ladi communities in particular,” the statement read.
