The palace of the Olu Agboyi has distanced its king, Oba (Engineer) Monsuru Abimbola Oladega, from a particular court proceeding bordering on land sales in which the king and some others are listed as defendants.

A section of the media has been abuzz with reports of a news stories in which Oba Monsuru Abimbola Oladega, the Olu of Agboyi, and some others were listed as defendants in a land sales dispute in which forgery, conspiracy, and obtaining by trick were alleged.

Meanwhile, the palace of Olu Agboyi, in a statement signed by Prince Muhideen Yusuf, urges the general public to disregard the defamatory news item that was intentionally made to mislead the public. The statement offered an explanation that said the complainant was out for a michief because Oba Oladega, whom he has accused along with some others he claimed sold land to him in 2014, Oba Oladega only assumed the reigns of Agboyi Kingdom in 2020 after he was sworn in by the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, six years after the purported transactional claim. It was further explained that the only involvement of Oba Monsuru was that the accuser approached the palace after the enthronement of Oba Oladega to seek permission to take possession of the land he claimed to have bought. He was asked for proof of his claim, and it turned out that his claims were not contained in the necessary record, thereby advising him to revert to the person who sold land to him for settlement. And to the surprise of the palace, he went ahead to institute a lawsuit in which he wrongly accused Oba Oladega of being among those who had land dealings with him, which is a total falsehood.

The palace also affirmed the mischievous intentions of the accuser by concealing to the court that Engineer Monsuru Oladega was a monarch.

The palace thereby categorily made it clear in the statement that, at no time did Oba Monsuru Abimbola Oladega had any transaction or collected a dime from the accuser, nor was he arrainged. It also added that Chief Razak Alayaki Seriki, Chief Abubakar Seriki and Chief Mrs Jemilatu Busari equally have no knowlegde of the land transaction.

Lastly, the palace wondered how Oba Oladega who is four years old on the stool of Agboyi kingdom could have been part of a transaction that took place nine years ago and such urged the public to disregard the news that was aimed to tarnish and bring image of the revered Oba into disrepute.
