2027: Ex-Senate president Anyim’s son joins Ebonyi Assembly race
Chisom Godswill Anyim, son of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, has formally joined the race for the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, to represent Ivo Constituency of Ivo Local Government Area.
The 25-year-old aspirant disclosed this to journalists shortly after purchasing the All Progressives Congress (APC) expression of interest and nomination forms.
Chisom said his decision to venture into politics was driven by a desire to serve rather than seek power, promising to focus on youth empowerment, grassroots development, and improved security in the area.
He also pledged to work closely with relevant stakeholders to inspire young people and create opportunities that would enable them to thrive.
It would be recalled that the APC stakeholders in Ivo Local Government Area had earlier adopted him as the consensus candidate for the constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Chisom further attributed his ambition to the leadership style of Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, noting that the administration has created an enabling environment for youths to participate actively in governance.
According to him, the governor has fostered a system where young people feel heard and empowered, which inspired him to step forward as a candidate and serve as a beacon of hope for the people of Ivo.
He assured constituents that he would build on the achievements of past leaders while introducing initiatives that would further enhance development and improve living standards in the area.
“I am going there to continue the great works of our leaders and also inspire the youths. My intention is to serve and not to obtain power,” he said.
The APC aspirant further called on young people across Ebonyi State to discard the notion that they are too young to assume leadership positions, stressing that age should not be a barrier to meaningful contribution in governance.
He expressed concern that many youths underestimate their capacity to lead, urging them to take decisive steps towards shaping their future
“Never in history has anyone been too young to lead. I am here to serve my people, to give them the life they deserve, ensure their safety, and create opportunities for their growth,” he added.
He also highlighted plans to improve security and ensure that residents of Ivo can live without fear, noting that his administration, if elected, would prioritize safety and economic opportunities.
He maintained that his vision includes creating platforms for youths to develop their skills and expand their opportunities beyond Ebonyi State to other parts of the country.
