The Ondo State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, has said the fuss being generated by his engagement of 273 lawyers as honorary and technical advisers is an unfortunate misconception of issues.

The national dailies have reported a statement credited to the Ondo State government that the government will not be responsible for the financial implications of the 273 advisers engaged by the Commissioner for Justice.

Clearing the air, however, Dr. Ajulo said the fuss generated by his engagement of 273 advisers is an unfortunate misconception of issues. He added that most of the designations are purely honorary, which means the lawyers do not have any right to receive financial remuneration or employment advantages from the Ondo State government.

“Most of these designations are purely honorary, indicating that the lawyers do not have any right to receive financial remuneration or employment advantages from the Ondo State government. Most of the lawyers who have been appointed are renowned, trusted, and experienced lawyers and jurists who have willingly decided to contribute their services to Ondo State as a gesture of goodwill, and any compensation they receive will not be provided by the Ondo State Government.” Ajulo explained.
