Farotimi: Sowore blasts Peter Obi for begging Babalola
Activist Omoyele Sowore says Labour Party presidential candidate in the last general election, Peter Obi, has “committed an unspeakable and despicable injustice in the fight against judicial corruption” for begging legal icon, Afe Babalola on behalf of Dele Farotimi who is being tried for criminal defamation.
Obi in company with the Labour Party candidate in the 2024 governorship poll in Ondo, Sola Ebiseni had on Monday visited Babalola Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state capital for cases against Farotimi to be dropped.
Babalola had petitioned the police claiming that the allegations made by Farotimi i against him in n his book, “Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System” were defamatory.
Reacting on his Facebook page, Sowore said, “I strongly condemn those who went to “beg” Chief Afe Babalola today regarding the unjust detention and persecution of Dele Farotimi. The delegation led by Mr. Peter Obi has committed an unspeakable and despicable injustice in the fight against judicial corruption in our country. Obi’s actions feel like forcing Rosa Parks to return to the back of the bus (of racial injustice) during the Civil Rights era in the United States. The struggle continues!”
