Gov. Abiodun appoints new permanent secretaries, principals-general, headteacher-general

GOVERNOR ABIODUN APPOINTS NEW PERMANENT SECRETARIES, PRINCIPALS-GENERAL AND HEADTEACHERS-GENERAL

To further strengthen the operational capabilities, administrative stability and guarantee the smooth implementation of government policies across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), the Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON has approved the appointment of nine (9) new Permanent Secretaries in the Public Service of the State.
2. A statement from the State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya stated that the appointments were made by the Governor in line with the provision of Section 208 (c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and having considered merit, professionalism, inclusiveness and cognate experience in the Civil/Public Service of the State.
The Head of Service explained that the Permanent Secretary Designates were carefully selected from the pool of Directors that were successful in the Ogun State Executive Leadership Development Pipeline Programme from which top-level appointments are made.
3. The new appointees are:
i. Mr. Abdul-Azeez Oludare AJIDELE, Director of Planning Research & Statistics, Ministry of Justice
ii. Mrs. Olufunmilayo Yetunde SOYOYE-BAKER, Director of Agriculture and State Co-ordinating Director, Cash Transfer Unit
iii. Mrs. Adebimpe Foluso OBIENU, Director of Public Prosecution, Ministry of Justice
iv. Dr. (Mrs.) Kafayat Modupe Lawal, Executive Secretary, Alternate Medicine Board
v. Mr. Ahmed Bayo ADETONA, Director of Audit, Office of the Auditor-General (State)
vi. Mr. Idowu Oladapo ONASANYA, Director of Administration & Supplies, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs
vii. Mr. Olalekan Peter TAIWO, Director of Payment, State Treasury Office
viii. Mr. Akintomiwa Oluwagbeminiyi OSIBODU, Director of Administration & Supplies, Teaching Service Commission; and
ix. Engr. Kehinde Olukayode AKINTOMIDE, Director of Industrial Promotion, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment
4. In the same vein, His Excellency has also approved the appointment of two (2) Principals-General and four (4) Headteachers-General to fill the vacant positions within the top echelon of the Teaching Service Commission and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and to further strengthen administrative processes in the education sector of the State.
5. The new Principals-General are:
i. Mr. Matthew Adeyinka OSILESI – Remo Division
ii. Mr. Yakubu Olorunyomi LAMIDI – Ijebu Division
The Headteachers-General include:
i. Mr. Benjamin Olusegun ALONGE – Ijebu Division
ii. Mrs. Aminat Folake BUSARI – Remo Division
iii. Mr. Olusegun Nathaniel AKAPO – Yewa Division
iv. Mrs. Folake Omolara ONABANJO – Egba Division
6. The Head of Service explained that the appointees were selected from among candidates who were earlier shortlisted, following a rigorous selection process which included an oral interview and a comprehensive screening exercise which involved inspection and assessment of the schools of the shortlisted candidates based on criteria such as academic performance in external examinations and competitions, the tone of the school, statutory records, staff relations, maintenance of facilities and personal attributes.
7. While expressing hearty congratulations to the new appointees, they are charged to demonstrate utmost dedication, absolute devotion and selflessness in their new roles, and to relentlessly pursue excellence in service by becoming major stakeholders and contributors to the developmental efforts of the Gateway State through the “Building Our Future Together” Agenda of the Administration of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, Governor of Ogun State.
8. Mr Onasanya said the swearing-in ceremony of the new appointees shall be conducted by His Excellency, the Governor in due course.
