G100: Coalition’s anti-Tinubu plot, a family civil war —Lamido
Former Jigawa State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has dismissed the chances of the proposed G-100 opposition coalition defeating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
He described the coalition as an internal struggle among politicians from the same political family, arguing that many of those involved had previously belonged to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or its political predecessors.
The former governor spoke while responding to questions from journalists on the reported plan by G-100 to mobilise opposition political parties and influential politicians behind a single presidential candidate to challenge Tinubu in 2027.
Lamido said he was unfamiliar with the group and its activities, insisting that he could not comment meaningfully on an organisation whose membership and structure he did not know.
“I’m not aware of this group. If they are really a group of 100, tell me who they are so that I can comment. I don’t know them. Who are they?” he asked.
When reminded that the reported coalition involved prominent opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Rotimi Amaechi, Lamido said he was not concerned about their political activities.
He argued that most of the politicians had moved through various political platforms before eventually finding themselves in the APC, describing their current differences as an internal disagreement within the same political family.
“You are talking about people from the same political background. They are from the same family. So why should I come into it? What should I comment? It is a family affair,” he said.
