Taiwo Prioritises Education, Youth Empowerment, Infrastructure in Legislative Agenda
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ipokia/Yewa South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, has pledged to prioritise quality education, youth empowerment, agricultural development, healthcare and infrastructure if elected to the National Assembly in 2027.

Taiwo, the immediate past Chief of Staff to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, said his legislative agenda would focus on addressing the developmental needs of the constituency through effective representation, strategic engagement with federal institutions and sustained advocacy for projects that would improve the welfare of residents.
He made this known during the concluding phase of his Back-to-School Initiative, through which he distributed exercise books, school sandals and socks to pupils and students in selected schools across Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The initiative, which began in Ipokia Local Government Area about a month earlier, was extended to Yewa South in fulfilment of his commitment to reach schools across the two local government areas that constitute the federal constituency.
Taiwo explained that the intervention was designed to ease the financial burden on parents, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, while ensuring that children had access to essential learning materials.
As part of the exercise, he also pledged to provide new school uniforms for all pupils of Jaja Community Primary School.
Beyond the distribution of educational materials, the APC candidate identified support for students from low-income households, including assistance with General Certificate of Education (GCE) examination fees, as part of his proposed education agenda.
He also pledged to pursue improved educational infrastructure and greater access to learning opportunities across the constituency.
During the school visits, Taiwo engaged with teachers and school administrators to identify challenges affecting teaching and learning, including infrastructural deficiencies and poor access roads to some schools.
He promised to channel the concerns through the appropriate government agencies and legislative processes, stressing that effective representation must involve identifying community needs, facilitating relevant government interventions and monitoring the execution of approved projects.
On agriculture, Taiwo pledged to advocate improved access to farm inputs, modern equipment, mechanisation, financing and markets for farmers in Ipokia and Yewa South.
He said supporting farmers to increase productivity, reduce post-harvest losses and improve their earnings would help strengthen food security, stimulate rural economies and create employment opportunities for young people.
The APC candidate also identified vocational training, digital skills acquisition, entrepreneurship support and access to employment opportunities as key areas of his proposed youth empowerment programme.
He added that market women, widows and other vulnerable groups would feature prominently in his proposed economic inclusion initiatives.
On healthcare and infrastructure, Taiwo pledged to engage relevant federal ministries, departments and agencies to attract development projects to the constituency, particularly in communities where inadequate roads and essential services constrain economic and social activities.
He also expressed his intention to advocate greater federal attention to the development potential of Tongeji Island, including the need for credible assessments of its reported natural resource potential and the pursuit of viable development opportunities through the appropriate regulatory channels.
Taiwo maintained that effective representation at the National Assembly extended beyond participation in legislative debates to include lawmaking, oversight, budgetary advocacy, constituency engagement and monitoring the implementation of government projects.
He expressed confidence that his experience in public administration and policy coordination would help him engage relevant institutions and pursue development opportunities for the constituency if elected.
The former Chief of Staff also commended Governor Abiodun for his administration’s investments in education and infrastructure, noting that collaboration between federal and state governments could improve access to development programmes and projects.
He said constructive engagement between the two levels of government would be particularly important in advancing priorities relating to education, agriculture, youth empowerment and infrastructure.
Also speaking, the APC candidate for the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Bayo Orebiyi, commended Taiwo for the Back-to-School Initiative, describing it as a timely intervention in response to the economic challenges confronting many families.
Orebiyi said investment in affordable, quality education remained a fundamental responsibility of government and would feature prominently in his own legislative agenda.
In her remarks, the Principal of Itolu Community High School, Mrs. Mobolaji Oluwakemi Adegoke, appreciated Taiwo for the donation of exercise books, school sandals and socks.
She assured him that teachers would complement the intervention through dedicated teaching and sustained efforts to improve students’ learning outcomes.
The schools visited during the exercise included Yewa South Primary School, Ijana; Itolu Community High School, Ilaro; Jaja Community Primary School; Yewa South Local Government School, Awuko Alagbon; Yewa South Primary School, Elekute; Yewa High School, Ajilete; and St. James Primary School, Oke Odan, all in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Taiwo’s proposed legislative agenda places education, agricultural development, youth empowerment, healthcare and infrastructure among the priorities he intends to pursue for Ipokia and Yewa South ahead of the 2027 general elections.
