Lagos: Police arrest four suspected armed robbers, recover 25 phones

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate and recovered 25 mobile phones, two laptops, gold jewellery and three cutlasses.

The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following credible intelligence and sustained surveillance of suspected criminal activities around Iju-Ishaga and Oke-Aro.

The suspects were identified as Damilare Oluwatobi, 28; Lekan Adenuga, 30; Haruna Sheriff, 22; and David Balogun, 24.

Police said the suspects were arrested at their hideout in Idi-Oro, Mushin, during an operation conducted by VCRU operatives.

A search of the hideout allegedly led to the recovery of 25 mobile phones, two laptop computers, a gold necklace and earrings, and three cutlasses.

The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators with the ongoing probe.

The command said efforts had been intensified to apprehend other members of the syndicate who may be linked to the alleged criminal activities.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the VCRU operatives for what he described as a swift response and intelligence-led investigation.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and improving the safety and security of residents across the state.

The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons and activities to the command.

The investigation is ongoing.
