The new Chairman of the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abayomi Tella has said the party would be rejuvenated, rebuilt, rejigged and repositioned for success in the future.

He made the comments after he was elected Chairman of the party’s State Congress, supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, held in Abeokuta, on Saturday.

He assured that his leadership would restore the party’s heritage and identity as a ruling party.

Tella, the former chairman of the Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of the state emerged as the party’s chairman with Sunday Solarin as his secretary.

He maintained that “despite the shenanigans of the ruling APC in Ogun State that manipulated itself back to power in 2023, there was no opposition in the state.

Tella said: “ I want to use this opportunity to assure our people that the PDP will be better positioned to win the next election in Ogun State. The Congresses in the State have been quite tranquil, free, fair, transparent and credible.

” This is the same PDP that raised the level of economic prosperity in Ogun State before the APC administration eroded all the gains our people achieved under PDP and consequently leading to the wanton poverty that is ravaging our land.

Speaking on the Edo election, he stated that the party was rigged out of power and urged the electoral body to up their skills in proving that they are truly independent and capable of conducting elections that the entire nation can be proud of.

“Regrettably, our Party has just been rigged out of power in Edo State. We grieve over the diminishing level of our electoral purity.

“We thought we have embarked on the voyage of joining other advanced Nations in having improved electoral processes that can produce true and patriotic leaders the Nation deserves”.
