Ondo activist  apologises to interior minister, says actions misguided

An All Progressives Congress chieftain and activist, Prince Emorioloye Owolemi, has tendered an apology to the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, over comments and actions he admitted may have damaged the minister’s reputation.

Owolemi made the apology in an open letter dated June 13, 2026, which he posted on his Facebook account, expressing regret over his conduct and appealing for forgiveness from the minister.

In the letter, the APC stalwart said he had reflected deeply on the circumstances surrounding his actions and had come to understand that he failed to fully weigh the consequences of his conduct. He stated that although he believed he was acting in the public interest and engaging in legitimate inquiry at the time, he had since realised that there was a delicate boundary between public scrutiny and actions capable of harming another person’s reputation.

Owolemi further admitted that emotions generated by public debates and social media interactions may have influenced his actions, leading him to cross that boundary.

“I write to convey my sincere and unreserved apology for my actions and statements concerning your person and office. Upon careful reflection and deep introspection, I have come to realise that I did not fully appreciate the extent and implications of my conduct,” he said.

He went on to appeal for forgiveness, urging the minister to allow resolution within the party, stressing the need for unity among stakeholders.

“I respectfully seek your understanding and forgiveness. This apology is offered in good faith, with genuine remorse and a commitment to exercise greater caution, fairness and responsibility in my future engagements on matters of public concern,” he wrote.

Owolemi also urged the minister to consider withdrawing the ongoing litigation arising from the dispute, saying an amicable resolution would promote peace and strengthen party cohesion.
