ADC coalition can’t stop Tinubu’s re-election – S’West APC

The South-West Zonal Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress has dismissed the chances of the African Democratic Congress coalition unseating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on Wednesday after a zonal meeting in Akure, Ondo State, the South-West Zonal Chairman of the APC, Isaac Kekemeke, described members of the coalition as politicians who had “failed the nation repeatedly.”

“I think the coalition is good for our democracy because a vibrant opposition is necessary,” Kekemeke said. “But this coalition of politicians cannot win against the coalition of Nigerians who know President Tinubu is doing the best for our country.

These are not untested people — they are people who have been tested and failed time and again. It would be terrible for Nigerians to abandon someone setting the country on the path to greatness for people who have nothing credible to show.”

He challenged coalition members to present records of their past achievements, noting that during Tinubu’s campaign, the APC could point to his track record in Lagos.

“Let them show what they did before that they now want to do for Nigeria,” he said.

Kekemeke said the South-West APC meeting focused on grassroots mobilisation ahead of 2027, with plans to recruit canvassers in all wards across the zone to communicate Tinubu’s socio-economic policies and achievements.

He stated that the committee had assessed the President’s economic and development programmes, concluding that he had performed “creditably well,” citing positive evaluations from experts, international organisations, and financial institutions.

The meeting, attended by state party chairmen and National Executive Council members from the zone, also resolved to work with the coordinating governor for the South-West, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, to organise a zonal rally or congress tentatively set for late September.

“Our goal is that the South-West must deliver for President Tinubu in 2027 just as the North-West consistently did for the late President Muhammadu Buhari,” Kekemeke said. “We cannot wait; as the President’s home zone, we must lead the crusade for his re-election.”
