ADC adjusts primary timetable, reduces nomination fees — presidential form now N90m
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has adjusted its 2026 primary election timetable and reduced the fees for nomination forms for aspirants.
On Sunday, the party said the sale of nomination forms would begin on May 5 and run through May 10, while the submission of completed forms was fixed for May 11 to May 13.
The party pegged the presidential nomination form at N100 million, governorship at N50 million, senate at N20 million, house of representatives at N10 million, and state house of assembly at N3 million.
However, in a statement issued on Tuesday, Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC national publicity secretary, announced a downward review of nomination fees and slight adjustments to the party’s primary election timetable.
Abdullahi said the purchase and submission of completed nomination forms will now run from May 6 to May 13.
He added that screening of aspirants is slated for May 14 and May 15, while the publication of screening results will take place on May 17.
According to him, appeals are scheduled for May 18 and May 19, with the final list of cleared aspirants to be released on May 20.
Under the revised timetable, primary elections for state houses of assembly, the house of representatives, and the senate will be held on May 21, followed by governorship primaries on May 22.
The presidential primary is scheduled for May 23, while the party’s national executive committee (NEC) meeting and “special national convention” will now be held on May 25 and 26, respectively.
“Following the review, the cost of nomination forms has been set at N90,000,000 for the presidential ticket, N30,000,000 for governorship, N10,000,000 for the Senate, N5,000,000 for the House of Representatives, and N2,000,000 for State Houses of Assembly,” the statement reads.
“The party retains its concessionary framework, providing a 50 percent discount for youth aspirants between the ages of 18 and 35 and a 25 percent discount for women and persons living with disabilities.”
Abdullahi said the adjustments followed broad-based consultations aimed at strengthening internal democracy, improving access, and ensuring that the ADC remains a credible platform.
He added that the party advised all aspirants and stakeholders to take note of the updated schedule and revised fees and to comply fully with all guidelines as published.
“The ADC remains committed to organising effectively and presenting credible candidates to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he said.
