Amidst Tough Economy, Ikosi/Isheri Chair Samiat Bada Imposes #650.000 Aso-Ebi on Workers for Her 50th Birthday, Hires KWAM1 …Accused of Abuse of Office, Misappropriation
The executive chairman Ikosi/Isheri LCDA, Ms. Samiat Abolanle Bada fondly called Princess, might not find days to come palatable if she’s found culpable of content of a petition that has been filed against her by the concerned residents of Ikosi/Isheri. Justnews reports.
Invite for the birthday party
According to a petition signed by Comrade Ajibola Subair, residents of Ikosi/Isheri are dissatisfied, appalled, embarrassed and woefully disappointed in Ms. Bada due to how she directs affairs of the council.
In the build up to her golden jubilee anniversary that is a few months away, the council chairman is accused of being insensitive of her status that, in the face of hard biting economy where the masses are gasping for survival breathe, Samiat picked Aso-Ebi that is worth #650. 000 for her birthday. She’s also accused of unnecessary show of affluence and total waste of money by contracting a musician as expensive as K1for music. This is frowned at, because it’s happening at a time leaders of all tiers of government are showing compassion by making sacrifice and doing everything to make life bearable for the masses.
What is however considered most irritating part of the birthday preparation is how the council boss is alleged to have made it a compulsion for council workers, councilors, supervisors and some members of the community to buy the expensive Aso-Ebi, not minding the economy that is not friendly.
“She is presently making life difficult for the entire resident and the workers of the Local government at this hard time. This anguish is what has led us to expressing our displeasure, and also, call the attention of critical stakeholders especially, the Governor and respective leaders on the need for timely intervention in order to save us from her at this hardship time, and to avoid the total collapse of Ikosi Isheri LCDA”.
In the same vein, Ms. Samiat Bada has been accused of enriching herself with the council fund, rather than using the funds to better the lots of the people in the LCD as well as provide infrastructure. Instead, she’s alleged to have been splashing the funds for her personal comfort like acquiring wonder on wheels and houses in Magodo.
Among accusations for which the petitioners have passed vote of no confidence in Bada, as well as demanding for investigation, is the recently commissioned market project at Ikosi/Ketu, Babajide Sanwo-Olu International Market, in which she is alleged to have played a fast one.
“It is pathetic, pitiful and upsetting to know that the recent commissioned market project, Babajide Sanwo-Olu International Market, Ikosi Ketu is not a government own project, but a personal project sponsored by Princess Samiat Bada and sold to developers, but the project was masqueraded to look like one of the projects of the local government that are meant to benefit the market people of the LCDA, but it turned out to be a self-enriched project. The market was sold out to some friends of Ms. Samiat Bada who are developers at the expense of the poor market women who are supposed to be the beneficiary of the project, to make it worst, a shop was sold at exuberance price. Some go for as high as 40 million naira, which is unaffordable to the poor market people that the market was meant for”.
Not done, Samiat Bada has also been accused of being the brain behind attack carried out by thugs on some new officers that were elected at the just concluded NULGE election. Accusing fingers are pointed her direction on allegation that she was not happy her anointed candidates didn’t win at the election. Some of these newly elected NULGE officers are said to be in the hospital due to the injury sustained during the attack.
“Her excesses are overwhelming in the local government presently as she claims that no one can checkmate her. She has people in power that are backing her and also has thugs she uses to cause mayhem and inflict pain in the life of her opponents or anyone that is against her.
This is wickedness and such a person should not be seen in corridors of power or held a public office”.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Governor Advisory Council and Kosofe GAC leaders were copied with the petition. However, while these concerned residents have passed a vote of no confidence in the LCDA chairman, they are equally demanding her immediate suspension and investigation into accusations leveled against her.
